      @aturely

      I know we spoke today but I would like to give you more information as this is a very good question and one that a lot of scientists are working very hard on! As I said before, it has been shown that patients with coeliac disease have lower levels of bifidobacterium and lactobacillus species which are thought to be protective and essential to human health. These are in fact the two species of bacteria I am currently working on! So, the idea is, (but this is just an idea it’s not proven) that people with less of these bacteria are more vulnerable to bad bacteria (such as E.coli) as well as inflammation which can cause a lot of the discomfort and irritation related with coeliac disease. If you have anymore questions let me know I’d be delighted to answer them!
