As well as being needed to see the world around us, light is very useful in scientific research and industry. We can harness light from the sun to generate electricity using solar cells, helping to fight climate change. Lasers are used in everything from medicine to entertainment.

In this zone you will meet a scientist making holograms which can be used for things like gas detectors and solar power, one who uses lasers to create explosions and one who studies electrons and protons. There is also a scientist trying to understand what super fast lasers do on a very small scale and an optometrist trying to help stop shortsightedness, so that less children will need to wear glasses.
