      Not the vaccine specifically (those were made by big pharmaceutical companies), but I was involved in the drug development process. In my lab we are working on a drug that was originally used for treating cancer, but we found it can also be used to prevent the virus from attaching to our cells. If the virus cant attach, it cant invade and cause infection.

      Even though vaccines have already been made, thousands of other drugs are being studied and made – not only to treat COVID, but also for future research so if this happens again, we can be more prepared.
