• Question: Is your work practical or is it a lot of theory?

      Thanks for the question, it’s good you ask because I remember being in school and knowing nothing about what a PhD is like…

      The best way to describe is that I use theory (from research papers, textbooks) to do the practical work (working in the lab).

      Some weeks I am in the office 100% reading or writing, other times I am in the lab the whole day! When things aren’t working with the experiments, I have to go back to reading theory and figure out with my supervisor and peers what to do next.
