So I grow my cells on plastic plates. The plates are see-through (transparent plastic) so I can see my cells under a microscope. We put them in what we call media. Media is a liquid filled with salts, sugars and nutrients to feed the cells. We change the media every 2 or 3 days because the cells use up the nutrients so we have to replace them. We can start with about 500,000 cells and after a month we have millions of cells because they divide over and over again!
