      I studied for 3 years in college and then I started my PhD and became a scientist

      After school I spent 5 years in college, and then I started the PhD. The PhD is 4 years long.

      I studied 4 years in college and I would have called myself a scientist after that.
      After college I spent another 4 years doing a PhD and a further 1 year continuing that research and that’s where I am today 9 years later!
