  I was in Japan for just under a year. I really enjoyed it. It is a beautiful place and the people are wonderful. They are so polite and kind hearted, they are always giving.
  I started to study the language about 3 weeks before I went! I enjoyed that too. I could manage with day to day by the time I left though for technical discussions and at work, we stuck with English. Languages are not my strength but I found Japanese more manageable to learn than German and French
