I typically buy my nanowires, but I’ve seen experiments where people make them in a microwave!
The most expensive part would be the chemicals to make the solutions, provided you are doing it in a certified laboratory. The whole goal is to create something as cheaply as possible with the best results – if it becomes a piece of medical equipment, we don’t want the patient to have to pay too much!
I’m not sure if I can exactly answer your question, but I typically use approximately 1-2 euro’s worth of nanowires per experiment!
