      Rope is made from polyester and polypropylene, both of which are plastics

      Ropes can be made from lots of different materials, In the past they were made from natural products like cotton or hemp and other plant fibres. They can also be made from plastics as Kieran said but also steel and mixed materials! It really depends on what you want to use the rope for!
