      We have a €5.7 million NION UltraSTEM 200 microscope funded by Science Foundation Ireland (SFI) in the Advanced Microscopy Lab in Trinity college Dublin which can see individual atoms!

      This is a picture of a sheet of molybdenum disulfide from the Duesberg research group which is just one molecule thick, it’s a special kind of material called a 2-D material, graphene is another example of a 2D material. This material could be used in batteries and solar cells! Each of the individual atoms of the material can be seen as the little grey dots! You can see the way the atoms arrange themselves in the material
