Flexibility. In my PhD I don’t have fixed hours as I would in a 9 to 5 job. So if I need a break of all the thinking in the middle of the day, I can leave for a quick walk and then come back ready to work for a couple more hours.
My favourite thing about the job is being able to travel around and present my data at places like Japan, or Greece. It’s a great way to talk to other scientists and it’s a nice reward for all the hard work!
The favorite thing about my job has been talking to people about science, I give lots of tours of the research institute and our labs to students, I am lucky enough to get to go to events like the BT young scientist and the national ploughing championship to do experiments and show off some off the research we do in AMBER to public. I love talking to people about nanoscience!
I also got to organize the transition year week for AMBER which was really challenging, but really fun, I think everyone who took part really enjoyed it, I’d love to do more, which is why I entered this competition!
