• Question: why did you move to ireland ?

      I wasn’t supposed to, at the beginning.

      I applied for the PhD project while my supervisor was still lecturer at University of St. Andrews, and I was accepted. However he asked me if I would have been ok with moving to Cork for the PhD, as he wanted to transfer the research group at CAPPA (www.cappa.ie) in CIT, getting the chance to access Tyndall National Institute’s cleanroom for the fabrication of our samples.

      Being interested in the project, I gladly accepted and was the first one of the group to move to CIT and start building the labs here.

      Being Mediterranean, I would have never believed I am writing this but that was lucky related to weather as St. Andrews is way colder.

      I’ve always lived in Ireland, I did my final year research project in Australia. After I graduated from college I was offered to do a PhD there but I decided to do a PhD here in Ireland, I don’t think I would have liked to have been so far away from my family for 4 years, plus, I really like it here.
