• Question: why is understanding the behavior of different materials help in science?

      If you know how a material works, you can determine what are the best applications to it. Sometimes you need a material to be transparent (phone screen, for example), some times it needs to be a good electrical conductor, sometimes it needs to be both! If you know the main properties of a material, you know to which technologies it can be applied to.
