Well microbiology is the study of micro-organisms (viruses, bacteria and fungi). Clinical microbiology is the study of the micro-organisms that cause infection in humans. Most hospitals have clinical microbiology laboratories attached that test their urines to see if they have kidney infections, or test their blood to see if they have blood poisoning, and lots more, like testing for TB.
It depends Nicole. You might have a kidney infection with E.coli that can be treated easily. Or you might have Ebola infection that cannot be treated since there is no cure yet. Infections that are caused by organisms that do not have a vaccine or cure, or are spread the easiest, are the most dangerous. TB is really contagious as it is spread through the air, coughed from person to person.
