We only know about a small fraction of the matter in the Universe. The rest is a mysterious substance known only as dark matter.
The Large Hadron Collider, the world’s biggest particle smasher, stands a good chance of discovering the elusive particle or particles, known to scientists as dark matter, which researchers say make up five-sixths of the mass of the universe.

The universe is made of matter, which forms all the known and unknown particles. These particles in parts make atoms, which make molecules, which in turn make all the components (amino acids, water, CO2, enzymes, etc) we are made of.
