it’s bizarre and wonderful. From the smallest things like quantum physics, molecular biology to the vast galaxies.. Science gives us an understanding how things work. I think it’s amazing!
Its really fun trying new things and not really knowing what will happen (within reason). My supervisor has a ‘give it a go’ attitude which has always helped!
That there is always more to learn – if we knew everything about the universe our jobs would be done and we could all retire! In the 19th century, the famous physicists Lord Kelvin said:
“There is nothing new to be discovered in physics now, All that remains is more and more precise measurement.”
But the quantum physics was discovered and we realised we didn’t know everything after all! So there is also something new and interesting going on!
That everyday I learn something new. It might be something like how to make one my instruments run smoothly without shutting itself down or reading papers in the field on some interesting experiment that I could apply to my research. I think that everyday is different makes it really interesting too.
