      I didnt really plan but chanced upon my current field. My scientist story is more of chance than of plan and I am really enjoying it.

      For me it was always more about the overall project aim. I always wanted to do something in biomedical science so that I could help improve the quality of people’s lives. So I looked at different projects in those areas. I always think if you really get behind the goal of the project you will have enough enthusiasm to follow it through regardless of how you have to get there. Using nanoparticles to achieve this just happened to be a good way to do it.

      I always loved physics and biology, so I ended up studying both. I picked this project, because it’s biophysics, combining my two favourite science subjects 🙂

      Initially I started out in Forensic chemistry, then I went into the pharmaceutical industry and now I am in cancer research. So I have moved about alot of different topics within chemistry and will probably continue to move around!

      During my undergrad, I always found nanoscience really interesting. One of my favourite scientist was Richard Feynman, who gave a fantastic talk in the ‘60s called ‘There is plenty of room at the bottom’ before nanoscience and technology was really a thing. For example, he complained that computers were too big and filled an entire room and said that work on nanotechnology would make it possible to reduce the size of computer to make them more accessible. And he was right! He talked about all the possibilities of nanoscience as a field and made it seem very interesting! But I didn’t always know what I wanted to do!
