About Me
I am a PhD Researcher working on how to use light to enable fast internet speeds. I am a happy go lucky person and really wanting to travel now.

I am originally from New Delhi, India. I live in Cork with two other housemates. Before this, I was living in Taipei, Taiwan which had a very different and vibrant culture. I came to Ireland this January, just two months before the lockdown and I have been able to travel to Galway so far. I find Ireland to be very green and connected with the nature. It makes one feel more centred.
I love going on long walks to the parks and having a hot chocolate during the winters(though I have it most days to be honest!). It would be great to connect with young minds virtually through this platform and getting to cultivate new ideas.

Light is right now our answer to low energy and fast communication. Our population is increasing every year and we need to provide fast internet to everyone.
Google and other big companies have your data stored in their offices and they want to keep it so that you can access it again. Because the data is so much and you want your data at the tip of your fingers, without waiting, they get some devices that use light to move that data.
How they do this is very interesting. they convert your data into light pulses and the light moves really fast which makes it easier for you to watch your video without buffering.

My Typical Day
My typical day looks like, me waking up late, falling out of my bed, getting ready and running to work. There I have a coffee and calm down and get to work. Mostly it involves, sitting in front of my computer and designing what I want to see on the circuit board, a lot of data is involved there. I also have lab work where I go to the lab to see the maximum temperature that the circuit board goes to once I heat it up with current. (Current produces heat, that is pretty cool). Once that is done, I report my measurements and we discuss whether it looks correct. The day ends and we gear up for another day of adventure.

What I'd do with the prize money
I would like to invest that money to build resources for the future. Like light is a futuristic technology, not very common now, but needs investment so that these technologies can become common and serve you when you grow up.
