Well if I could have been a professional athlete I would have done that! But I am not that talented haha!
Before I went to university I wasnt sure if I wanted to go into science or engineering. I picked geology because I thought the day to day work would be the most interesting.
Looking back now that I know how different careers progress, I think I could have really enjoyed doing a lot of other things too (like engineering, or medicine). I just got lucky that I picked a science I really like doing every day.
I considered an engineering job after graduation from university, even worked as an electronic engineer for a while, went back to science though. And maybe when I am an old lady, tired of making people run and do exercises for science, I would like to write a book, that still probably will be a science fiction )).
As a kid and a teen, I wanted to be an astronaut, then a nuclear physicist, and finally a hacker.
When I had to choose, I went for computer science.
During the master thesis, I spent 9 months doing research for real in a lab, and I fell for it.
It became obvious there and then, that the Ph.D. would have been the next step.
