I grew up in Canada near the Rocky Mountains and during hikes if you are looking carefully you can find fossil shells and pieces of coral reefs in many of the rocks! I also lived near Dinosaur Provincial Park where you can go on tours to find real dinosaur bones. I’ve found little bits of tail bones before!
Last time I saw fossils was when I went to Burren National Park. You can easily find fossil corals in limestone there. You can also find crinoids (relatives of starfish), brachiopods (filter-feeding animals), and gastropods (snails). I wasn’t that lucky though. But if you go there, do not disturb the rocks and leave fossils where they lie, they are part of the heritage of the area.
