Thank you!
It is still a work in progress but in the current version, the device looks like a pair of leggings with the small boxes on thigh and shank. Those boxes contain position sensor (like in all the smartphones today), so it can record the leg position and the knee angle. That’s how I can say if a person does an exercise correctly.
The device also has flexible electrodes that sewn to the inside of the leggings. Electrodes pick up electrical impulses from muscles, so I can see which muscle works, when and how hard. I use all this info to see how a person is doing with their recovery, how they improve over time and if they need some advice from physiotherapist.
That’s cool! Do you think that this will just be for sportspeople or do you want it to be available to everyone? What price do you hope to sell these devices at? They sound very useful for injury prevention especially since most people don’t know how to stretch properly. You say that it’s a work in progress, but when would you estimate its completion? Are you close or still a wile away?
Thank you! To the first question, right now the device is aimed to provide assistance after injury. Great thinking though, with a few tweaks here and there it definitely can be used for injury prevention and sports performance evaluation. I would say for the general public that’s a bit excessive, but for anyone who trains often enough can be useful. Considering the completion, it’ll take a good few years, one thing is to develop the device, but you also need to get all kinds of approvals to get it into the market. So we are still a while away. About the price, I am not sure, not my area of expertise(manufacturing big quantities is a separate question). Right now somewhat similar devices can cost about 300-600, so we would try to make it cheaper.
