In general, I would say the worst would be some sort of traumatic knee injury, for example, in a car accident. In that case that could be a combination of broken bones (knee caps for example) and torn ligaments.
In sports, there’s an injury so-called “blown knee” – when simultaneously two ligaments ( anterior cruciate ligament, medial collateral ligament) and one cartilage (meniscus) are torn/damaged.
I will add in an extra bit of other information too! If you have a really bad injury to really any join you have to be worried about any dislocations because they can cut off blood supply which can cause more, potentially irreversible damage. Maybe a bit rarer for knees but hip or ankle dislocations can be bad in these respect.
