Blood is extremely important for a number of reasons. Firstly blood brings oxygen all around our bodies and it also removes carbon dioxide. Blood can keep us warm in cold conditions and cool when it is very warm outside. The blood also contains antibodies. Antibodies are basically a little army inside the body that recognise infection and help to fight it to make us better. Blood transports these antibodies to the site of infection. When we have a cut, platelets within the blood clump together to form a scab on the surface of the skin. This prevents us from losing too much blood and stops things from entering our bodies too.
