0 Question: how small is an average atom??? :] Keywords: atom, scale Asked by rach2kaii12 to Arlene, Colin, David, Eugene, Paul on 14 Nov 2012.
David McKeown answered on 14 Nov 2012:
Really small…. No really small
O.k more precisely, it’s somewhere between 30 and 300 trillionths of a meter
See I told you it was small 🙂
Paul Higgins answered on 15 Nov 2012:
About an angstrom wide, which is 0.0000000001 meters! It turns out an oxygen atom is about the same size as a uranium atom. That is to do with the forces between the electrons orbiting the protons and neutrons in the nucleus.
