Well, currently I am starting a postdoctoral research fellowship, which is a job to do research that you can get funding for, after you do a PhD. I was lucky in that I get to do my own project, with my own ideas. That will last for 2 years, and after that I will probably try to get another one, and another one- that is, if I decide to stay in research. As far as becoming a lecturer, there are very few permanent jobs to do science research, especially in Ireland. I have an american passport, so I will keep my eyes open for permanent jobs in America, also. Another option is to go into industry- science PhDs are very attractive to tech, consulting, and financial companies.

I hope so. I’m a post doc also. So I have the choice to try a get a full time lecturing positon or work in industy. There are a lot more postdocs than lecturers so getting a job as one is a mixture between being really good and lucky. *crosses fingers*
