Yes, but famous may be a relative term. I can only think of two household names currently alive, Hawking and Higgs. George Smoot did a cameo on Big Bang theory, but he is probably not famous. Besides, he is also experimental.
I think Stephen is right. Brian May is probably the most famous person that has a PhD in astrophysics. Which is a little bit sad, because he’s more a rockstar than a scientist. But maybe Neil deGrasse Tyson might be more famous now. I hope he is.
