Ozone is a gas and the ozone layer gets impacted every day by small meteors.

The atmosphere also protects us from cosmic rays made up of charge sub-atomic particles. The higher up one goes, the more radiation (rays) one receives. Flying a lot in planes increases exposure.

So, it is not just the meteors, one also needs to think about the extremely small particles we cannot see.
