Question: are there many female scientists?

Not many unfortunately, just to give you some examples: in my department in UCD, there are 20 staff members and only 3 of them are female. it is difficult to balance family and research intense work, something has to give, but I do my best and I want girls from schools to know that females can be very successful and there are programmes that are designed to help females writing grants for funding too!
