Question: Did you publish anything in your field? if you did what and when
-
James Sullivan answered on 7 Nov 2014:
Hi Daffy,
Thanks you for your question.
My group have been lucky enough to publish several articles in the last few years. These have included things like the preparation of solar-powered catalysts, the synthesis of catalysts for more environmentally friendly synthesis reactions, the preparation of carbon and titania nanotube catalysts, catalysts for combustion of soot released from cars and catalysts for making biofuel from both grass and vegetable oil feedstocks.
A list of our publications is at this link: http://www.ucd.ie/chem/staff/drjamessullivan/I hope this answers your question.

I’ve published a few times in different ways. My first publication was a short article called a communication which really just announces a discovery without going into much detail. I then didn’t publish anything for a while because the project I was working on for my PhD was fairly hushed, however the work finished in a patent which is a very long legal version of a paper explaining the nature of the reaction you have tamed and all the examples of how it can work. A follow up paper, which is a full article with analysis and theoretical basis usually, came next. Then there was a review paper which is where you might not even display any of your own work, but just explain the leading research in one area such as the catalysts used for a particlar reaction. Then finally earlier this year I was fortunate enough to be part of a team that published a text book. This was by far the most fun but most high pressure publication I’ve done! A follow up text book is in the works too.
My portfolio is quite unusual though and most researchers publish many communications, some papers, the occasional patent & review and maybe a textbook. -
