  You should definitely try and do the banana experiment and extract DNA from a banana. Maybe share this with your teacher. But basically to take DNA you take some salivia, blood or tissue from human or animal and you have to take out the protein, heat it up. Heating up the proteins or blending them breaks down all the walls and structures and releases the DNA. Then you have your DNA.
