  Well, we have written an algorithm that currently recognizes structures on the tongue called fungiform papillae (your tastebuds are housed in there). We have tested it and it is quite good at counting these in very specific conditions, so we hope to be able to translate that to an app where you would take your own photos, upload it, and the app would count the papillae.
