This is an interesting question. And there is no study or report of surviving on only one food. I am presuming food being a specific fruit or vegetable or meat for that instance. Humans have been eating a mix of foods for centuries.
On the other hand, if we look back the history of great Irish famine of 1850s, where potato plant diseases led to starvation and death of huge population, this may suggest potatoes alone are enough for survival. In fact, potatoes do contain a wholesome meal with nutrition and bioactives. But then, one will be bored eating potatoes on daily basis.
