It’ll be used for people who are “pre-hypertensive”. So these people have mild high blood pressure but it’s not yet at the stage that you would intervene with a pharmaceutical drug. So we’d like to target this at risk group and bring their blood pressure back down.
A lot of people are doing similar research with these kinds of compounds but they are trying to deliver them in yoghurts and cheeses etc. We want to make a pill, because the group I work in specialises in oral drug delivery. So we’re using what they’ve learned with pharmaceuticals and applying it to food components 🙂
