Great question, and yes! Photons are small particles of light. A laser beam consists of lots of photons of light with the same properties. One of these properties is their wavelength, or colour, which is why lasers are a single coloured beam of light. I use laser light, or beams of photons, to make the holograms in the lab. I shine the laser beam onto the object I want to make the hologram of, and then store the light reflected from the object in a type of film. When you look at the film, you then see a 3D image of the object, which we call a hologram!
