      Short answer: no, I can’t!

Long answer: Even though I never have, scientists in America have recently claimed to be able to make mini black holes in the lab – but they have to do some more experiments to be certain.

Generally speaking, black holes are made when an enormous star (like our Sun but much bigger) reaches the end of it’s life, and it starts to collapse in on itself. Because the star is so huge and heavy, all of the star’s material becomes really tightly packed together when it collapses. This large mass then can pull other objects towards it, the same way gravity keeps you pulled down to the ground on Earth.
