Light is made of elementary particles. If the light does not collide with something that absorbs it, it will never fade.
For example, think that the stars that we see in our sky are the light that was shined long time ago. For example, GN-z11 galaxy shined light and we are able to detect it even when it is 12600000000000000000000000 km away from earth. That is because in space there is not much that absorbs the light in space.
