Yes, the sun is responsible indirectly for most of our machines.

If you think about it, most of the energy that we use to build or machines comes from the sun, with the exception of coal and geothermal energy.

Oil is made of animals and plant, with are created by the sun. Wind Energy is gathered by our turbines, but what moves air, well it turns out that the sun energy moves the wind. Same for energy generated by moving water. What puts all that water in clouds in the sky, that is the sun!
