      Hi Peter,

In my position I run a small research team which is made up as follows:
myself as the head researcher, postdoctoral researchers (who are finished a PhD but still need training), PhD students and the odd undergraduate who does a summer project or final year project. I try to set up projects so that people within the team work with me and with each other if possible.

They are also expected to interact with experimental researchers in Tyndall so that some of our work can be realised and tested.

I do some work on my own as well.

It is very important to have and support a diverse research team in order to advance your science. Working in a good team is really excellent, you develop good teamwork and communication skills and you know your work will be used by others, so that sharpens your mind.

      M
