      Hi Francis,

In first and second year you start off in general science so I did biology, maths, chemistry and geology. I specialised in zoology in my 3rd and 4th year. There are compulsory classes where you learn about all (and I mean all!) the vertebrate and invertebrate groups, animal behaviour, physiology, wildlife biology, developmental biology (the genes that control how animals develop), ecology and conservation biology. Then in fourth year you can choose to specialise a bit more depending on whether you’re more interested in the environmental and evolution side of things or molecular, genetic and physiological research. I chose to do courses in evolution, ecology, parasitology, conservation management and modeling the social interactions among animals. In between all of this there’s plenty of opportunities for field trips, dissections and trips to the zoo 🙂
