      Hi Gavin,

      The moon is made of pretty much the same stuff as the earth and most certainly not cheese 🙂
      It is a rock with a covering of dust and has been composed of lots of volcanic-based rocks. But we are still trying to figure out where this composition came from.

      The Apollo moon landings brought back lots of useful rocks and information on the moons composition. There is also some ice under the surface, not a lot, and lots of helium, which is hard to get on earth. It has no atmosphere and 1/6th earths gravity and it also has not changed in around 4 billion years, unlike earth.
