      good question.

      There is no real answer to “why” and mostly science tries not to deal with those questions that are more philosophical.

      How is more easily answered, although still a topic of intense debate and discussion.
      But at some point in time a tiny region of energy became unstable and expanded (but not into anything), and as it expanded its energy was used to form atomic particles, and atoms and molecules and stars and galaxies…
      To really answer this needs a lot of physics and maths, but that is the basic idea. We think there may actually be many universes, but do not know if they may be connected or not.
