Hey Anna, good question. For a long time I wasn’t sure! I went to UCD to do Science and luckily they structure the course so that you can do general science for the first two years and then specialise for 3rd and 4th year. So I got to try out a lot of different types of science and different courses that let me narrow down to what suited me best and what I liked the most!
That ended up being Pharmacology for me, which is the study of drugs and diseases really. But my PhD is now in Neuroscience/Genetics. So I’m even still just figuring it out!
When I was in school, chemistry and biology were two of my favourite subjects, and I wanted to get a degree in a subject that involved this two. Fortunately, I learned about Pharmacy and pursued it as my undergraduate degree.
Pharmacy is a multidisciplinary subject, and during the final year of my study, I discovered that I am particularly interested in the technology involved in preparation of syrup/tablets/capsules and how they work in human body; and I have pursued that interest ever since.

My mother had an illness, that was my passion to know more about the brain and neuroscience, actually, to find a better solution for her pain.
