So graphene is a material made entirely of carbon atoms. Diamond and graphite (the lead in a pencil) are also made of carbon atoms but what is different is how they stick together. In graphene all the carbon atoms stick together in a long thin sheet that is only one atom thick, think of it as a piece of paper, being so thin gives it cool properties that make it really exciting to try and make new computers and screens and batteries and a bunch of other stuff out of it.
