Not all sugar is the same some sugar occurs naturally in food while some is added in to make food taste sweet or to make it last longer – i.e. to preserve it – Like a lot of things if we eat too much sugar it can be bad for our health so we should limit how much sugar eat.

THe bad sugar is the one we add to the foods. The sugar that is already present in the food (like fruits or veggies) is not bad because it is surrounded by other substances that make that sugar not bad.

As the other scientists here have said not all sugar is bad.. sugar is actually needed in our bodies in order for us to function as we use glucose (a type of sugar) in our cells for energy. However where we get this sugar from is so important as different sources of sugar (e.g. added sugars to foods) are not good for us. It is better for us to get sugars from vegetables such as sweet potatoes or fruits as these contain other important nutrients that our body needs and also the sugars in these foods are usually complex and need to be broken down by the body leading to a slow release of energy (which is different from the quick release you get with simple sugars like when you get a sugar rush after too many sweets).

simples sugars (eg fructose and glucose) are not good, more complex sugars are fine!
that’s why it is better to eat fruits rather than sugar !
