The truth is it is not!
You can, and many people do, live a perfectly healthy life without eating meat or any animal products for that matter. It’s true that it’s a good source of proteins but so are many foods. There is only one very specific vitamin (B12) that can only be found in animal products but you can just take a supplement for that.
We eat a lot more meat than we need to and it contributes a lot to climate change so maybe we should consider not having so much…. the problem is like Gonzalo said, it’s very tasty!
Well I am not saying that you cannot have a healthy diet without meat but that meat it is indeed important in our diets. We have evolved thanks to eating meat from the animals. Right now there are other possibilities and with supplements and a correct diet you can follow a helathy vegan diet.
But I do agree tthat we have to reduce meat consumption because it is too high!
