This is a difficult question to answer.. The most important thing is that all nutrients needed by the body are being supplied by the diet. This can often by difficult with vegan diets. A wide range of foods and food groups need to be consumed in the diet and cutting out a range of foods might limit this. It is especially important that all the nutrients are being supplied during childhood as this is when your body is rapidly developing.
Absolutely NOT! Kids need amino acids to build up proteins and muscle tissue! A vegan diet lacks essential amino acids! So, please please please…NEVER suggest a vegan diet for kids!
Children really shouldn’t adhere to a vegan diets as they could potentially miss out on many nutrients including protein, vitamins and minerals that they need to grow! If children are on a vegan diet their parents should make sure they are getting enough nutrients for growth and development from fortified foods or supplements.
