• Question: what percentige of a cow would be sold as meat

      It depends on the cow there are cows with more meat than others.
      First there is like a 38-48% of the cow that wil not and cannot be sold as meat like the skin, head and all the organs (heart, kidney, lungs) and then from that depending on how you cut it and how many pieces go with bone or not you can sell as meat up to 80% of it. So a good percentage would be 50%.

      As lean meat it is only around 40% .
      However, food industry uses processed meat in all sort of different foods (pizza, pies, sausages etc) so it can go up to 80% as Gonzalo suggests!
