This is in order to kill the bacteria present on and in the meat which could make use sick if we ate it.

Ciara is right, we cook it so we kill the bacteria that would make us sick. But we also cook it because when you cook the meat you get different flavours as if you eat it raw.

Ciara is right but also to make it softer, more tender and more tasty!
