0 Question: Why is blue cheese ‘blue’ Keywords: blue, cheese Asked by Em12 to Ciara, Gonzalo, Yvonne on 17 Nov 2017.

This is because a mold called Penicillium is added to the final product giving it a distinctive smell and flavour. The mold itself is a blueish colour when it grows giving the blue cheese this colour.
