Over the last 5 weeks, scientists and students across Ireland have been engaging online in I’m a Scientist, Stay at home.
During school closures, 191 students across Ireland have logged in from home to chat with 66 scientists. Students sent 127 Ask questions and had (almost) uncountable levels of conversation in 35 live chats.
Together in the Green Zone, they’ve talked about a huge variety of topics, such as:
- the possible existence of Planet X
- why caterpillars are able to eat so much
- how black holes suck things in
- how life began
- how experiments can go wrong
- science ebook recommendations
- the role of scientists in the current coronavirus pandemic.
See all the scientists who took part.
A huge THANK YOU to the funder of the Green Zone, Science Foundation Ireland, and all the students, teachers and scientists who have taken part over the last few weeks. It couldn’t have happened without you.
Next week we will be announcing the Student Winner of the Green Zone!
Scientists – if there is anyone you would like to nominate, please email us over the weekend.
If all this has got you wanting more of the action, get involved with the I’m a Scientist Summer Zone. It’s open to everyone until 17th July.
Teachers and students – log in through social media to join open chats everyday at 10am and 3pm.
